Choose where you vote, then pick your ward. You'll get a ballot guide you can copy, share on WhatsApp or print. Not sure of your ward? Look it up on MyVote (Toronto) or your municipality's election site.

      How to vote

      Voting in a municipal election takes about ten minutes. Here's what you need to know.

      Check you can vote

      You must be a Canadian citizen, 18 or older, and live in the municipality or own or rent property there (or be the spouse of an owner or tenant). You can vote only once, even if you own more than one property.

      Get on the voters' list

      In Toronto, use MyVote; online changes close at 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 11. In Vaughan, use voterregistration.vaughan.ca. You can also be added at your voting place.

      Pick when to vote

      Vote early at an advance vote, by mail (Toronto) or online during Vaughan's advance period, or in person on voting day, Monday, October 26.

      Bring ID & mark your ballot

      Bring ID that shows your name and address. Take this ballot guide with you: print it or keep it on your phone. Your vote is secret.

      Which school trustee do I vote for? Everyone votes for one trustee. Most voters support the English public board (TDSB in Toronto, YRDSB in York Region), and that's the board my trustee picks are for. If you're a Roman Catholic separate school supporter, or a French-language rights holder who supports a French board, you vote for that board's trustee instead. To check or change your school support, contact MPAC at 1-866-296-6722.
